– Source :
Stylosanthes guianensis 184. Commonly known as Stylo Grass, which is widely distributed from Mexico to Argentina, is a naturally occurring grassland in the prairie region and widely adapted to poor soil conditions.
– Biological characteristics:
A legume of perennial legume, a grassy species that grows upright or grows obliquely and has a height of 1.2 meters. Strong branching, branching and branching are usually 1-2 mm in diameter and have a thickness of about 1.5 cm. Shoots grow in two directions from the ground and on the ground.
Stylo cultivars are widely adapted to a variety of soils with a pH of 4.0 to 8. However, on soils that are too acidic, poor in nutrient and have high levels of clay, Stylo grass does not grow well. Highly productive and suitable for grasses, even on sandy soils with low organic matter or high acidity, dry soils. Water drainage, at the stage of young trees need attention to kill weeds.
The yield of green matter is 60-70 tons / ha / year.- The rate of crude oil is 24.3%, crude protein 17.1%.
Harvesting: litter when the grass is planted 3-4 months when the grass cover is covered with soil and the carpet is 50-70cm. Grass height remaining after harvesting about 20-25 cm above the ground is suitable for the regeneration of grass because the branches grow from the clones left. The regeneration litter should be cut when the lawn is 50-60cm high (if collected green) and 35-40cm high for cattle grazing.
– Use :
Stylo herbs can be fed to livestock. Stylo grass should be used as a feed supplement and the best use would be 25-30% of the total dry matter in the amount of forage fed per day. Stylo grass is used to make pasture for young animals (calves, goats) providing high protein feed for young animals. Supplementation in sow diets
– Variety:
5 – 6 kg seeds / ha – Finished manure: 10-15 tons, applied all over the incision.
Super phosphate: 300-500kg, applied all over the incision.
Potassium: 100kg, apply all under the incision.
Urea: 50kg for top dressing when the tree is 5-10cm high. If the soil is sour, apply more lime by spreading evenly when plowing. Apply 1 – 1.2 tons / ha at pH <5
